I've been after this for ages for 'The Hole of the Pit', and finally got a copy for a buck at the junk shop - pretty crappy ex-library copy though. And 'The Hole' lives up to expectations: bloody ghosts, Italian femme fatales, slimy sea monster, sword fights, romance - you name it - all written in delightful faux 17th century English. I assume this is indexed on the Vault somewhere, but anyway: Ramsey Campbell, Introduction Russell Kirk, Behind the Stumps Dorothy K. Haynes, A Horizon of Obelisks Alison Prince, The Loony Henry Normanby, The First-Nighter Fritz Leiber, The Hill and the Hole Robert Aickman, Ravissante Donald Wandrei, The Lady in Gray Walter de la Mare, A Mote Ramsey Campbell, McGonagall in the Head Adrian Ross, The Hole of the Pit

"The Hole of the Pit" is the book's centerpiece, but some of the other stories are great, too.

From a bookshop on the way to Wollongong: Horrors Unknown - $8 Frankenstein: The True Story (a screenplay) - $3 The Journal of Edwin Underhill - $3 Started this - hopeless nerd turns into sexy Byronic vampire. Judging from the author's photo on the back there's a bit of wishful thinking involved.

Is not his hand unnaturally small? Is it even his hand? Well, it could be someone giving him a very gentle uppercut.

Thomas Tessier - The NightwalkerI saw Tessier recommended by Stephen King in DANSE MACABRE but have yet to try him. I do have Tessier's FINISHING TOUCHES that I picked up awhile back. Speaking of books to read - Etienne Aubin's VIRGINS OF THE UNDEAD should be with me anyday. One of Vault's legendary must reads. KC

Heh. I am glad that it is not only me who sometimes takes months (or years) to get around to a book.
