Seven years ago, when I still live in Cambridge I found SIGNED copies of The Ghoul, The Resurrected, first edition Cannibals and Pluto Pact in the normally-overpriced Oxfam in Burleigh street! I just wonder who donated them... Hats off to you for finding Mantis-classic Eat Them Alive, though. Which shop was this?

I just wonder who donated them... Seven years on you'll find that the Oxfam in Burleigh Street is still overpriced...and I've never come across any Guy Smith's there. Hats off to you for finding Mantis-classic Eat Them Alive, though. Which shop was this? It's a big disorganized warehouse under the railway arches, called Books and Collectables: www.booksandcollectables.com/index.php. Not sure how long it's been there. I only discovered it in the last year or so.

Ebay Purchases: Larry Miller - Inseminoid David J. Michael - Death Tour Nick Blake (Shaun Hutson) - Chainsaw Terror. last one caused a bit of a dent to the wallet, I went for sensible & went in at the end of the auction, but I still ended up paying £10.02 . Still, given the likelyhood of seeing a copy again, glad to have it (arrived today), even if i liked the starting price of 19p better (it was never going to stay at that) Charity shop: Christopher Fowler - Uncut 50p (Always find myself ploughing through his short stories, so this was a must.

The Vampire Lovers ( Cushing on the cover) - Fontana 1970 ( which was mentioned only recently on the Hammer thread).
Pan Horror #15,17
The Natural History of the Vampire - Anthony Masters - Mayflower 1975 . The sort of paperback they just don't make these days. Cool bloody fangs cover!

Pan Horror #15,17 The Natural History of the Vampire - Anthony Masters - Mayflower 1975 . The sort of paperback they just don't make these days. Cool bloody fangs cover! KC I like The Natural History of the Vampire for Masters' "don't look too closely at the "evidence", just go for the most entertaining book about the subject you can" approach, very much the Peter Haining attitude to 'non-fiction'. Masters was also 'Richard Tate' the guy who wrote the film-crew in peril classic The Dead Travel Fast (Sphere, 1972), featuring Marcus Odabiah, the world's least charismatic occult investigator and the book which first brought FM and me into contact. And the rest is infamy.

The Identity of Jack the Ripper - McCormick (Pan) Drums of the Dark Gods - Ballinger (Five Star) The Haunting of Alan Mais - Saxon (Five Star) The killing Bone - Saxon (Five Star) £2.00 well spent. I'll say, Lord Froggy! From what i can make out, Donald McCormick is something of a controversial figure in Ripper circles and the experts are keen to point out that he's of a generation of journalists who blatantly cut their facts to support their theory and omitted any trifling evidence that might explode it. It's been a long time since i read (and enjoyed: i'm not a Ripperologist) The Identity Of Jack The Ripper in the Arrow '70 edition (above), but i think he also quotes supposed conversations that took place 70 years earlier and offers them as conclusive proof that he's nailed the right man (see also Peter Haining's Sweeney Todd). None of this matters a jot, though. It's still a brilliant read!
