James Herbert - The Spear (NEL, 1978, hc, 279 pages; this edition Signet, 1980, 290 pages)
This is the 5th novel Herbert published. After the rather strange Fluke he returned to horror fiction, but put more elements of a thriller into it. It is interesting that he did this topic long before Indiana Jones made it popular and it became stuff for the History Channel.
