I did see that another Vault denizen did not rate Miss Macaulay's story very highly. I enjoyed it as a teenager. I just remember being amused, even then, by some complacent ladies commenting that "old Tiberius wasn't really so bad" and then learning a little too late the error of their ways...
Of course that was over 40 years ago now. Who knows where the time goes?
cheers, H.

Hi again, H!
I've decided for now not to order it in any anthology. Chances are I'll change my mind, though. Instead I found myself waylaid and seduced (so to speak) by several other Ghost Book anthologies, thanks to the intriguing story lists found in the Vault. So the Fifth, Sixth (Pts 1 & 2) (7th a bit too expensive on top of all the rest) Eighth, and Ninth will soon be on the way to my mailbox.

That sounds really cool, Miss Scarlett. I've been wanting to revisit the Lady Cynthia Ghost Books for many years now. In my childhood and adolescence these were frequently seen both on retail shelves and in the used bookshops I used to haunt. I was endlessly bugging my parents to let me go roam in a bookshop whenever we were on vacation somewhere new.

I don't think I ever saw a used book store until I was a teenager; I used to haunt the local library instead. Before all these Ghost Books arrive I should get The Fontana 10th Book of Horror Stories....

As far as I am concerned, Miss Scarlett, you have FABULOUS taste in literature. I look forward to any future insights you are able to share!
Best, H.
