Be interesting to note if they contacted Evelyn's estate (which would now be Otis' second wife's children) for permission to reprint it. I'm guessing (but happy to be proven wrong) that they probably didn't.

Here's hoping we see an English reprint soon. As much as I love the battered old paperbacks, as times goes on, they age further and further and I begin to worry about their integrity, so it'd be nice if Nace's magnum opus were revitalized for the future.

I just imagined what would have happened if Mrs Mary Whitehouse stumbled upon an audiobook of Eat Them Alive.
I think I have managed to stop laughing now.
Hope everyone is retaining what few shreds of sanity remain. Of course some of us had none at all to begin with.
cheers, H.

I just wanna say, not to get too mushy, but I've always enjoyed coming here. From the beginning, you guys have been nothing but kind, friendly and welcoming towards me. When other forums I go to are going insane and ripping themselves apart (the ones in the Star Wars fandom are pretty ugly at times - God forbid I have a positive opinion about the new movies!), Vault of Evil is a rock in the storm. Who'd have thought a fandom dedicated to paperback schlock about monsters eating people's guts would have the nicest, most well-adjusted people...?

If they ever did a movie version of Eat Them Alive, I really hope they'd do it with marionettes or puppets, old school style like in The Deadly Mantis or Son of Godzilla. But CG like in Goosebumps would suffice. "Oobie-doobie-doobie, gimme those boobies!" "Save some for me!" "She's so sweet, I could eat her brains like jam!" Definitely need to be more killer mantises in movies.

Those shots are hilarious, Koosh! I'm sure Mrs. Pierce Nace would have been fascinated.

But CG like in Goosebumps would suffice. Oobie-doobie-dooh, ... I hate CG monsters! CGI is good for backgrounds, sunsets, etc. But for monsters I WANT stop-motion animation and go-motion! Dragonslayer (1981) is the last great monster they made on screen, it was the top of special-effects monster evolution. After that they dropped it, because of cost efficiency. Cheaper to hit computer keys, than actually doing some solid healthy work.

This is interesting. Sorry if this got brought up before, but it appears as if our favorite tale of murderous mantis mayhem got published in 1979 in an omnibus edition with another novel, David Holman's Fleshbait.
