Right now Strange Tales by Runa press is your best bet for reading those two stories. Why spend two weeks or more translating something when you can buy a copy down the street for a reasonable price? I am progressing slowly on my projects. For the curious I've created two blogs, Alraune and Hanns Heinz Ewers. The links are: (note: I've modified these links to new blogs. The Pagannation blogs were not reliable enough. It will take some time for the new Alraune blog to catch up with my translations. Chapter three is almost complete but four is very long.) ewersalraune.wordpress.comhannsheinzewers.wordpress.comI will post story segments and chapter segments here. When the story or chapter is finished it will go on my webpage. My copy of Vampire still has not arrived and I ordered another just in case. There are only five or so available out there! In German that is. You won't find much at all in any other language. When that arrives I will slowly start working on that as well, again in blog form. I'm playing with Fundvogel right now. I can't post it openly but I will be posting it privately at editred.com. You will need to sign up and request to be one of my readers but it is a way around the publication issue. I think I will set up a blog around Fundvogel and hope people will comment and discuss this mysterious book. Basically and hopefully I will be putting out somewhere around four pages from each: Alraune, Short Stories from Grotesken, Vampire and Fundvogel each week. I just won't be finishing a lot. Chapter 1A and 1B are posted on the Alraune blog right now. 1 C will probably go up tomorrow. I'm trying to put a first intallment of "My Mother the Witch" out tonight and tomorrow Chapter 1A of Fundvogel.

As I mentioned in my email to you earlier, I will not post anything that I have not personally translated. I have a list of the stories I will be translating and those that you mention are not at the top of the list. I'm currently taking stories from "Grotesken". (the earlier version) When I'm done I will publish it as "Grotesken". I'm sure that if you posted those stories on your own webpage people would be interested. bright blessings -anarchistbanjo

But is in the PPD in the US,so could I post it here possibly? And i you read Ewers, then you have to read Tomato Sauc.
One inal question though,as you didnt notice it before-you mention a list-do you have C.3.3 and Mamaloi on that list AFTER Grotesken?
Ps-for america-alot of people would prefer "Grotesks",but -anyway, how are you gonna get it published?

I'm translating Fundvogel and posting it in installments on Editred.com, the writing community. I am posting it privately for readers only. That way I am not really publishing it. If you want to read my translation of Fundvogel you will need to join Editred and then ask to become one of my readers. This costs nothing. It does prevent the public from viewing works that are not for open publication. It is common practice for writers to show other writers what they are working on for support and suggestions on how to improve it. It is in this spirit that I am offering Fundvogel. In Chapter 1A Andrea Woyland receives her first check and leaves her Greenwich Village home. The link is: www.editred.com/anarchistbanjo

Here is the link. anarchistworld.com/hannsheinzewers/book/alraune/chapter01.htmI've also decided to make Fundvogel available on my website when I get the first chapter finished. I've just written a letter to the estate and will be sending it out this week some time. Wish me luck!

When things have settled down at this end, I'm gonna really delve into this stuff...
Good luck with the estate, Mr Banjo.

Well I've sent off a letter to the estate and we will see what happens. In the meantime I've created a couple more blogs. The blogs will be updated a few pages at a time. When a chapter is complete it will be posted on the website. I will also mention the posting of new chapters here. Two new blogs! Vampire anarchistbanjo.wordpress.comThis will be a bit slow getting going because I need to do a few pages of introduction before the story continues. Fundvogel anarchisticknights.com/wordpressI've decided to create a blog for this on my own domain area and use it until I hear more from the estate. It will be a few days before I get what I have already translated posted on it. When you read the variety of each book it is simply amazing that they all came out of one author! till next time. -anarchistbanjo

You're doing a great job there. There is a certain clunkiness/woodenness to the prose - its only a hint. I think its inevitable in German translation, particularly old tales. For me it lends a specific period charm. I could really get into Ewers and I certaily wouldn't turn my nose up at these translations. Great work. I shall read on
