Hi Ramsey. Thanks for the reply I live in North Wales. I will look into whether I can get to Liverpool on the 16th. Do you have anything on in Liverpool in November or December (easier to whisk the family over to Liverpool if I can bribe them with the idea of a combined Christmas shopping lift lol). I met you in Waterstone's about two years ago when Adam Nevill and Stuart McBride (I think that's who it was anyway) were reading. You signed some books for me and we had our photo taken together. It was a great evening. Thanks again for the response.

Hi. I'm a big fan of Ramsey Campbell. Does anyone know of any public appearances, book signings or readings by Ramsey in the UK during the next few months?

Hi. I first saw the Liverpool Gothic website about 5 months ago or more. On the website they say that Ramsey Campbell will be appearing at Waterstones Liverpool One on Wednesday 20th of November this year as part of the gothic festival. The website does not say whether tickets are required or need to be booked etc. I have attempted to contact the organisers several times by email and telephone and I have left several messages and yet no one ever rings me back. I have also telephoned the Waterstones store and they say that they do not know anything about Ramsey Campbell giving a reading at their store (they actually have someone else booked in for the 20th of November to give a reading).
I was wondering if anyone on this forum has any more information regarding the Liverpool Gothic event, specifically whether Ramsey Campbell will be appearing (and if tickets / pre-booking is required).
Any information would be gratefully appreciated.
Regards,
Algernon

I tried to order a copy of Bedabbled #4 from Hemlock books the day after they announced it was on sale. But Hemlock said they had only been given 30 copies and that they had already sold out of them all. They also said that they had suggested to the guy producing Bedabbled that he print some more but he refused!!! I don't get it!!!!! What's the point producing only a few ofsomethi g when there's a demand for more. This is the sort of attitude that can put me right off buying the magazine in the future. I just don't get it.....

Hi Noirist (Sarah). Welcome :-) I have some of the Wordsworth Editions "Tales of Mystery and the Supernatural" too. In my opinion they are a good way of collecting some good classic authors and their work, as well as finding new authors / stories. My favourite supernatural fiction authors are Ramsey Campbell (his short stories are particularly outstanding and he has written some excellent novels too) and Algernon Blackwood. If you enjoy the older form of supernatural short stories (like many covered by the Wordsworth Editions) then I would definitely recommend that you try and read some Algernon Blackwood. There are numerous collections usually available on Ebay or Amazon. Happy reading :-)

Yep, I have been looking on eBay but had I've had no luck as of yet....perhaps it's too early yet for people to be selling this issue.

Hi.
Does anyone have a copy of The Darkside Magazine #150 (Amicus special) that they want to sell? Somehow I missed this one when it came out and now I can't buy it anywhere. Thanks:-)

I have had Ramsey Campbell's new book "Holes for Faces" on pre-order from Amazon for the past 3 months or more. However, I heard today from Amazon that they are unable to source the book from their supplier and therefore the book will be unavailable and my order has been cancelled. I was wondering what's happened and if anyone (or Ramsey himself) knows anything about whether the book will appear soon?

I saw the film last week (having finaly bought it on DVD after reading so many good reviews and hearing that Martin Scorsese was a fan of the film). Sadly, I was very disapointed too. I like Ray Milland as an actor, however, I found the way in which he fell in love with the girl after only a brief boat trip to be too simple and felt that the writers could have made more of an effort. Many reviewers say that it still has the power to scare the audience, however I didn't find it remotely atmospheric or scary (despite the fact that it was set on Cornwall's magnificent coastline, was filmed in black and white and was supposed to have a couply of malevolent ghosts etc). I beleieve that The Haunting, The Innocents and Hell House are far superior films in their ability to conjure up chills, atmosphere, general unease and scary set pieces.

I read somewhere that the British version was called Secret Stories and the US version Secret Story? Is this not the case? That's right, but my American editor pointed out that Stories sounded like a collection, and so I've abandoned that title. Hi Ramsey. Thanks again for the above explanation concerning the UK/US version of the tittle of this book. Come to think of it, that does kind of make sense as it could be mistaken for a collection of stories. I thought that I had already replied to this post weeks ago (I guess it was one of those instances where I had decided upon a suitable response but then been distracted by something else and therefore not gotten around to replying.....and then been under the illusion that I had replied. Must be getting old and my mind has started to play tricks on me! .... ).

I managed to download it off youtube and actually put it on a CD to watch on TV through my DVD player. It's very good. Excellent cast and something which should definitely be available on DVD. It's at least as good as most of the BBCs Ghost Stories for Christmas. And makes a pleasant change to the usual James. I could try and do a copy of the CD if you like. Hi David. I'd love a copy if that's ok? I'd be very grateful and indebted to you. I would be willing to pay you for the disc, p&p and your time and effort:-) Let me know if that's ok and I can inbox you my address. Thanks again.
