Am loving Brennan, and The Shapes of Midnight in particular, so much, I grabbed an extra copy. Meanwhile, I've heard it's being reprinted at long last later this year. In July, apparently. Anyone heard anything about this?

I changed my quoted post because the link led to something else. I can't read After the Omen for free. I need to pay $20 for it. I'm not going to. Clicking on "Read Frank's sequel to 'The Omen'!" takes me to the page for The Peacemaker, which costs $10. I'm confused. Can I read any of this quack's crap besides The Antichrist for free? It seems like he's started charging money since dem bones' post was made.

Like his eternal rival Dean Koontz, King has always been either hit or miss with me. His best books are his shorter, or at least "normal length" ones, aside from The Stand and It, and even It feels like it really doesn't need to be as long as it is, and has always been a chore to slog through. I'll eagerly pick up The Stand, but avoid It like the plague. As for his recent stuff, I read the first paragraph of The Outsider where he has two black boys (I know they're black because King explicitly calls them "two black boys" in one of his annoying "pointless detail" habits where he only seems to mention a character's race when they're black, as though their "blackness" is their entire characterization) avoid some cops in an unmarked car (who the black kids of course refer to as "Five-O") and lost interest immediately, because the scene shifts abruptly one paragraph later to a transcript of a police interrogation. Huh? Why did he do this? Why not simply describe the cops exiting the car after the boys leave and go arrest whoever it is they came to arrest, and write the ensuing interrogating scene normally?
Looking the plot up on Wikipedia, as described, it sounds kind of interesting; in execution, well, you can tell I think King messed it up. He's become a lot like George Lucas; a man of good ideas but who bloats and bogs down his work with stupid crap because he's gotten too big for his britches and nobody tells him "no."
Oh, well; at least it doesn't take place in Maine, this time.

That cover. It's at once terrifying and strangely hilarious. Bedlam: Or, How Not to Use a Condom. "Am I doing it right?"

Doesn't look like a reprint of Carnosaur is likely. That's a shame. Any particular reason?

Managed to obtain this copy from an eBay seller in Norwich. The asking price was originally £100.00, but I negotiated the seller down to £57.47. With shipping to the US, this brought the total to £78.04.

The prices for it are just nuts. I got my Manor copy (which is moldering a bit, sadly) for relatively cheap. I'm currently attempting to acquire an NEL edition to replace the two - yes, two - copies I lost as a result of water and mold damage a few years back, a fate which also befell many other books (William Essex's Slime among them), but I suspect I'm still gonna end up paying way more than I did originally...

This just came in the male today. Hopefully I'll get around to reading it soon. I didn't think it'd arrive before Demonic Color did.

Was able to grab Nine Horrors and a Dream on eBay. Talked the seller down from $100 to about $62. Definitely on a Brennan kick lately.
