As most of you will know, Wordsworth Editions' highly competitive prices limit our ability to pay royalties, which is why we generally only print out of copyright books. However, in some cases it may be possible to print authors who are still in copyright. In addition to our other poll (see link below), we have created this poll for popular suggested authors who are still in copyright. So for this poll, which will also run until the end of February, please select your favourite 2 in-copyright authors and we'll see if a deal can be done to publish the 2 authors who receive the most votes. Once again, thank you for your interest and support! N.B. We had many suggestions for Sax Rohmer, but from our initial research it seems that unfortunately he would be beyond our budget. Over the last few months, we at Wordsworth Editions have received many suggestions for new authors and titles we can include in our Mystery & Supernatural series. We've now selected the 20 most popular authors and would like you to cast your votes for your favourite 5 authors in the poll. The poll will be running until the end of February and the top 5 authors will form the basis for our Mystery & Supernatural publishing schedule for 2010/11. As a token of our thanks, everyone who votes in our poll (or has previously contributed a suggestion through email) will be put into a lucky dip, and 2 of you will win £50 of Amazon vouchers to use as you wish (although if you want to spend them on Wordsworth books, that's fine with us! ) Thanks again for your continued interest and support. Please also take a look at our poll for authors still in copyright: vaultofevil.proboards75.com/index.cgi?board=presixties&action=display&thread=2574

Also,I know its sitl in copyright, but are there ANY plans for a cheap reprint of H.R.Wakefield's "They return at evening" (1928) or any colection of Wakefield at that? No plans as yet, but his name has come up quite a few times so its something we're likely to look in to as he's obviously in demand!

Apologies for repetition, but this came up on the Dark Voices: The Best Of The Pan Book Of Horror Stories thread, and, as i'm sure it's a problem Wordsworth encounter on a frequent basis, it seems this is the best place to ask if our understanding of the 'every effort has been made ....' disclaimer is correct? We don't have too much of a problem tracing copyright holders, one of the most useful sites is tyler.hrc.utexas.edu//. Sorry we can't be of more help!

By the way, if you'd be so kind: when is the deadline for poll nominations? Deadline for nominations is the 1st February, the poll will follow in that week I should think. I'll add those author suggestions to my ever-growing database, if there's enough demand then we'll certainly look into the ones that aren't out of copyright. Might actually do another poll for authors still in copyright, then we can see who's in demand and investigate further... Keep the suggestions coming! Emma@Wordsworth

Now for Burrage? Burrage is still in copyright, unfortunately. He has been mentioned to us a couple of times though so he is on our radar... Emma@Wordsworth

A question-any W.C.Morrow-esque publications planed in the future? No current plans to publish W C Morrow. However we are currently creating a database containing all of the author suggestions we've received, and are hoping to add a poll on to The Vault in the next few weeks to see which authors you'd most like to see re-published, with a view to adding a few more titles onto our 2010 publishing schedule. If you have any other author suggestions, please email them to derek@wordsworth-editions.com in the next few days and I'll get them added to the database. Thanks Emma@Wordsworth

Just a quick question-will the Onions colection have anything from "Back O' The Moon"?Its I think his first and is both rare and unscaned. Also,if you ar doing Guy Boothby titles,(if thats the corect Idea, that I got anyway),then are you considering "The curse of the snake"? We have direct access to Oliver Onion's personal papers, which include all his written works, so it is our intention, if space allows, to publish a complete collection. The format of our books allows us to go up to a maximum of 1184 pages, so we have a fair amount of space to work with. Our edition of Guy Boothby’s ‘Dr Nikola’ books has just been published, and it is possible we will consider more of his titles in due course, although at the moment, we are concentrating on expanding the number of authors that the series covers. Thanks to everybody for the author suggestions received so far!

Derek at Wordsworth here, just dropping in to wish you all a Happy New Year.
First, many thanks to all of you that took the time to drop me a line and suggest possible new titles for the Mystery & Supernatural series. I now have a really good selection to choose from for our 2010 releases, but I’m thinking that perhaps I should go one step further, and give you all a chance to vote for the titles you would really like to see published. I’ll put a deadline of 31st January for any final suggestions, that can be e-mailed to me at derek@wordsworth-editions.com
I can tell you that two we are definitely going to be doing is a complete collection of the stories of Oliver Onions, and also a complete ‘Varney the Vampyre’, which is going to be a very big book for £2.99!
We really do appreciate everyone’s efforts at spreading word of our books, as it can be very difficult for us, as a small publisher, to raise our profile. I have to say probably the most effective way we have done that is by having all of our titles listed on Amazon. I know from experience that if I see some good reviews for a book, then I’m more likely to buy it, so if any of you feel like leaving a review on there of any of our books that you’ve enjoyed, then that would be very welcome.
I’ll drop in again in a couple of weeks with details of the poll. Thanks again for your support and encouragement.

That’s a pretty good estimate – previously we’ve been putting out a lot of titles to establish the series, but we have nine new titles scheduled for 2009, and I would expect something similar in 2010.

Concerning Mark Hodder - could you please pass on a message and ask him to return the papers he has in his possession to the LOBBC Sexton Blake Library. He's had them over two years, and it's really about time they were returned for other borrowers. I've tried to mail him, but have received no reply. Thanks. Mark lost your email a couple of years ago when his hard disk failed, but has the papers boxed ready to send. If you want to confirm your email address to me at derek@wordsworth-editions.com, I'll pass it on to him to arrange despatch

Quick newsflash - I'm in discussion with the copyright holders for Oliver Onions, and hope to do a deal that will enable us to put together a collection of stories in time for inclusion in our 2009 programme.
Regular readers will know that we are largely limited to works that are out of copyright, as the £2.99 price tag of the series doesn't give us too much leeway for payment of royalties. However, the good news is that the reputation of the series seems to have reached the point where some copyright holders may be prepared to compromise on fees to enable us to include some titles that we couldn't normally afford, so fingers crossed... Cheers, Derek@Wordsworth
