Martin H Greenberg and Elizabeth Ann Scarborough (eds.) - Vampire Slayers: Stories of Those Who Dare to Take Back the Night(Cumberland House, 1999) Introduction - Martin H. Greenberg & Elizabeth Ann Scarborough
Manly Wade Wellman - The Last Grave of Lill Warran Brian Hodge - Midnight Sun Carl Jacobi - Revelations in Black August Derleth - Nellie Foster Richard Laymon - Special James Kisner - God-Less Men Hugh B. Cave - Stragella Charles de Lint - We Are Dead Together Tanya Huff - This Town Ain’t Big Enough Ed Gorman - Duty F. Paul Wilson - Midnight Mass Greenberg and Scarborough cannibalises earlier collections - notably Robert R. McCammon's Under The Fang (Pocket, 1991), from which they lifts 4 stories, and Greenberg's own Vampire Detectives (Daw, 1995) - to bleed the Buffy brigade's bank accounts even drier. If you've got a few vampire antho's, chances are you'll already have copies of the Wellman, Derleth, Cave and Jacobi minor classics. Under The Fang is set in a future where the undead rule the roost and human's are their cattle. It's patchy to say the least, but if you can locate a copy, you might be advised to buy that instead of this lazy cash-in. Not for nothing do they call him "the American Peter Haining" it seems ...
