With all the titles Mr. Saucecraft has been unearthing, this list badly needs an update, so will try and get around to that soon. In the meantime, probably not really what comes straight to mind when we think Hamlyn, but good fun and added for usual completist mania reasons. The first edition was an Octopus hardback in 1983 and it went through at least three paperback editions before the one shown below. Not sure if these too were Hamlyns? Roger Boar & Nigel Blundell - The World's Greatest Ghosts (Hamlyn, 1991) Front Cover Photographs Inset: screaming skull, Bettiscombe Manor, Dorset (Robert Estall: National Film Archive/Stills Library) Main photograph: The Amityville Horror. Hand tinting by The Lighthouse Corporation Blurb: In this book is a spine-chilling collection of people's true experiences of ghosts and the supernatural, written in a no-nonsense and unfanciful manner. Included are some chapters about the well-know and celebrated ghosts of ancient stately homes, the terrifying antics of poltergeists, ancient curses and modern and medieval witchcraft.
Companion volumes in this World's Greatest series include: Crooks & Conmen, Unsolved Crimes, UFO Mysteries, Wickedest Women, Elite Forces, Psychics& Mystics, Evil Men, Cranks & Crackpots, Mysteries, Trials, Scandals, Fantastic Freaks, Infamous Murders, Mistakes.

With all the titles Mr. Saucecraft has been unearthing, this list badly needs an update, so will try and get around to that soon. Got another one on ebay with buy it now, last night: The Quick and The Dead by Judy Gardiner. Should be with me tomorrow, so I'll get a thread with cover scan started, once I have it. As for the list, I'm sure I don't need to mention the Hamlyn Horror site, but I will anyway : www.dawtrina.com/hamlyn/main.html Last time I looked, I think there were 80 or so titles on the list, don't know if that's all of them. If I turn up any not on that list I'll certainly post them. Not sure my recent purchase of KillFactor Five counts as a nasty, seems more of a thriller, but I added a thread anyway, as from the blurb,it definitely seems like Vault material.

Found a book on my travels today that seems to be a Hamlyn Hybrid Horror that got away? From 1981
BLURB:
THE BROOKLYN-BATTERY TUNNEL
It was the greatest engineering feat of modern times - the longest underwater highway in the USA. And one man knew its single weak point.
Now, nearly twenty years after its completion, he returns - with a desperate gang of escaped convicts. It's a holiday weekend, and the two mile route is choked with traffic. Suddenly the killers strike, trapping 6000 commuters in the claustrophobic darkness - including the Mayor of New York.
First there's the nightmare of the long fume-filled tunnel...next the cold blooded murders, then the panic of desperate people struggling to survive.

Here, for what it's worth, is the complete novel collection - it's taken me many, many years to get them all!

I heard it took you no time at all to collect them, but many years to actually display them in alphabetical order. What pride of ownership!
