Frances Hardinge was my first thought. She who wrote that wonderful tale of cheese-making, amnesia, betrayal and deception – “A Face Like Glass”.
But if it is her, where’s the hat? Her black hat is her trademark, isn’t it?
No, there’s only one other possibility: Daniel F Galouye. Creator of that strange underground world in “Dark Universe”. Who amongst us, having encountered them, could ever forget those clicking stones...?

And here's a review of the edition:
Pedro P. 1.0 out of 5 stars DO NOT buy the paperback of this book! 15 April 2017 Verified Purchase Do NOT by the paperback version of this book. Approximately the first third of the book is part of the novel “Cleek, the Master Detective”. The actual “The Shadow over Innsmouth” only begins midway through chapter 3. Not sure how this can actually happen, let alone be shipped like this. Needless to say, I wasted my money.

One of these is H.P. Lovecraft. I saw him testifying to Senate.
