I've heard this evening from Rob Morgan at Sarob Press that By No Mortal Hand has been printed and is on its way back to Sarob HQ, and pre-orders should begin shipping within the next couple of weeks. He also tells me that it has been selling well, and that there are only around 35 copies left, which allays my visions of people going, 'Daniel who?' and Rob ending up with a couple of hundred unsold copies on his hands.

This is great news. Much looking forward to the book (even if I do have to pass it on to the reviewer for G&S after a surreptitious read!). I heard from Rob this morning that the G&S Book of Folk Horror is out of print...

This is great news. Much looking forward to the book (even if I do have to pass it on to the reviewer for G&S after a surreptitious read!). As I knew that you would be sending the review copy to someone else, I've already mentally set aside a copy for you from my author copies. You can think of this as either a small thank you for your encouragement and feedback on various story drafts, or as chilling proof that even when you think you've passed the thing on it'll still come back and haunt you...

That's really kind of you. At least, I think it is!

I think a lot of us have been intrigued by the previous announcement of the next Sarob Press book: Legionnaire by C.E. Ward. Now all the details are up on the Sarob blog, and the book will be out in time for Christmas. In the back of my head I was thinking that it would be about Roman legionnaires, and it turns out to be about the Foreign Legion. M.R. James meets P.C. Wren! sarobpress.blogspot.com/2019/11/new-title-news-legionnaire-ce-ward.html

Hooray - after being in French lockdown limbo for weeks (much to Robert Morgan's frustration), The Ghosts & Scholars Book of Mazes is out and wending its way to its various destinations. My copies arrived this morning and Paul Lowe's dust jacket is even better than I expected. Beautiful. Now working on an idea for my next G&S Book of... (for 2022!).

As mentioned in the new Ghosts & Scholars (currently wending its way to folk), I think I can officially confirm that my next Sarob book will be The Ghosts & Scholars Book of Follies and Grottoes. I won’t be actively soliciting new and previously unpublished stories till the start of next year, as the book won’t be published till 2022, but at this stage what I’m looking for is suggestions for the reprint section. As with the Sarob Mazes book, these should be stories (featuring follies or grottoes, obviously!) specifically and only published in the small press - books and magazines. I already have five or six in mind (stories by Mark Valentine, David Longhorn, Chico Kidd, Mary Ann Allen, Clive Ward and Tina Rath), but I need a few more.

Oops!! I hate FB, thanks for setting me straight as I hadn't noticed. Apparently, according to Rob Morgan, the pre-orders for this one have been flying in. Basically, if you plan to order it (and, obviously, you should - it’ll be great), then do it now, before it’s too late.
