Looks marvelous, James! I did order this one because I've been intrigued by Stenbock ever since I read about him in this trashy book (that had a great drawing of Oscar Wilde as a cat on the cover), Feasting with Panthers, by the notorious Rupert Croft-Cooke. Panthers was so gossipy, luridly set forth in a manner that recalled some avidly gossipy old dowager scattering crumbs all over the tea-table as she dispensed an incessant stream of ancient taradiddle from her girlhood.
Have only ever read perhaps two stories by the Count, but they were strange--and I have almost no memory of either. C'est la vie.
Great scans!
H.

A buck from the junk shop:
Babs Deal, The Crystal Mouse (NEL, 1974)
When her husband Howard dies Sara decided to continue living in the new apartment they had bought for their retirement years. She did this knowing hers was the only occupied flat in a vast tower block, a collection of luxurious but empty flats.
The lonely days that followed were easy to fill, with lunches, telephone calls, visits to the shops and friends. And there were always the memories to keep her company. It was the nights that presented the challenge, the encroaching encirclement of fear. A fear that had its roots in nothing, its structure in trivialities. Yet to Sara it was as real as her life, as her crystal mouse.
The mouse was the prize piece of her crystal collection, her protector over the years. To find it broken one day was just another incident, yet precipitated Sara into that headlong flight into fear...

Great finds! The Hound of Dracula looks good, and I love the Harry Ludlam omnibus book! I thoroughly enjoyed those 2 as a kid/teen & then again recently from archive.org.

I've owned the Zoltan book before and am hard pressed now to remember why I got rid of my previous copy. The periodic insanity known as decluttering is the likely culprit. I highly recommend the film of Zoltan if you haven't seen it. I'm a fan of dogs in horror generally, but any film in which the canine lead wears vampiric make-up and pulls the look off is particularly okay by me.

Yes, the Harry Ludlam books are very entertaining, and I, too, got them from Internet Archive. I've never come across a copy of Zoltan, so to find that plus two Ludlams in a charity shop I would say is a definite result.

You might have checked out this page already, but "frogbeastegg" about half-way down has a suggestion. Some people say that cooking spray works, other "Goo Gone".
Good luck!

Great thanks - there's a few options there. I'm intrigued by the olive oil option - I might try that first.

I've had the same problem in the past, but have been so unsure of making things worse that I have tended to leave it alone. Interesting solutions and I hope James will let us know how he gets along.

Olive oil worked okay - it loosens the adhesive so it's easy to rub off. It helped that the Subterranean dust jacket was glossy - probably not a good solution for a fragile dj.

Good to hear that you had success, James, and I will keep it in mind if I have that problem in the future.

Got a good condition severn house hardback of Tales of The Walking Dead (Ed. Peter Haining) for 20p at Braintree RSPCA shop. With trilby pulled down, purple paisely waistcoat and long hair, got mistaken for female briefly. Couple of days earlier, bloke at Braintree wetherspoons said "This lady is before me", I'm beginning to get worried

My charity shop haunts are crammed with the usual big-name titles that are not of much interest to me, and as there are no used bookshops around here, I am reduced to online sources and hefty postage costs.
