Very pleased to report that my copy of The White Road arrived today, and it is - as you'd expect with Sarob Press - a lovely thing in and of itself. It's also satisfyingly hefty. I look forward to revisiting those Ron Weighell stories I've encountered before, and experiencing many more afresh.

Didn't realise it was out - with any luck it'll turn up here soon. Nor did I, so it was a pleasant surprise when one of the parcels that turned up at work today contained a copy. (By chance, the other parcel contained a different Sarob Press book - something called Friends of the Dead by an author whose name eludes me for the moment... I love getting post some days.)

My copy arrived today, and very nice it is too: Does anyone want to join me in crowdfunding a portal so that we can all go to Australia and visit James's library?

My copy also arrived today, too - as did "Girl Gangs, Biker Boys, And Real Cool Cats : Pulp Fiction and Youth Culture". Many thanks, Australia Post, for making the last delivery before Christmas such a good one! Mark

Does anyone want to join me in crowdfunding a portal so that we can all go to Australia and visit James's library? I'm in! Perhaps we could stop off in Germany on the way home and take in Andy Decker's too!

I see that Zagava, a German imprint from Düsseldorf, has published a new edition of Ron Weighell's The Irregular Casebook of Sherlock Holmes, with a new twelve-page introduction by the author. It's in English: www.zagava.de/

I haven't seen it mentioned here yet but I read that Mr. Weighell passed away on Christmas Eve. Just incredibly sad news.

It just don't stop, doesn't it? Another sad loss. R.I.P. Ron Weighell.

I сan't find his photo on any resource. He was a very modest person. Maybe Rosemary Pardoe has something to say about this man.
My personal favourite of his stories is " The Four Strengths of Shadow".

I сan't find his photo on any resource. It looks like he wanted to be anonymous. Maybe Rosemary Pardoe has something to say about this man.
My personal favourite of his stories is " The Four Strengths of Shadow".
He had a massive stroke a few weeks ago and never recovered. He died on Christmas Eve. It’s so very sad - he was a great writer, both when he went the Jamesian route and when he ranged further afield. I never met him, but never had anything but good dealings with him. I believe Fran, his wife, is planning on putting together a bibliography of his writings, as a memorial.

This is shocking news about Ron Weighell. Words fail me for once.
