The wonderful PulpLibrarian tweeted a couple of BBC horror sound effects album covers a few minutes ago, so I thought I'd grab some Google images and share them with my fellow Vaulters, assuming this is the right place to put them...

Red Hot Poker In The Eye, Sawing Head Off, Stake Driven Through Heart, Burning At The Stake, Squelching Footsteps, Whipping, Fingernails Pulled Out, Body Put Into Acid Bath.....
Had Essential Death & Horror Sound Effects Vol 1 on cassette tape (ask your ancestors) via the local library (likewise); handy for sampling purposes but it's way more fun to create your own.

I had that first one on vinyl. Anyone got the full track listing? Fairly sure there was some maniacal laughter on it that was used on Sham 69's Borstal Breakout, and, in speeded-up form, to depict a cat with influenza on the first Monty Python's Flying Circus LP (perhaps not coincidentally also on BBC records.)

The first albums I ever bought (in the late 70's. Each one cost me 3 weeks pocket money) and I still have them.
Sometimes when I want to listen to cabbage being assaulted I often put them on.

And who among us hasn't wanted to assault a cabbage at one time or another? I know I have.... (With apologies to the late, great Graham Chapman)

I like cabbage. In fact I'm having it for my dinner tonight with chicken and roast potatoes. I did have to slice and dice it first mind...

My local Library had all of these albums at some time or other. The Horror effects ones were borrowed many times by my friends and I. LIBRARIAN: You're not taping these, are you? ME: Of course not.
(We were.)
