I just love seeing these. Thanks James! Now I can be tormented by still more treasures I'll most likely never set eyes upon in fleshspace. Ah well.
Fascinated to hear anything further you wish to share regarding the mags and the editorial career of Ms. Salmonson.
cheers, H.

Shadowpublishing November newsletter HereThere's some wonderful stuff for sale there, and at quite reasonable prices. Mind you, I clicked on the Illuminatus! magazine Confrontation 23 (yes, it was the only issue - hence the number), to see the price, as I bought a copy back when it was released in the mid-1970s (probably from Dark They Were and Golden Eyed), and remember it with great fondness. Not enough fondness to keep it though - it must have gone during one of my regular clear-outs. That's fifty quid I've lost!! The one thing Dave's not selling is a run of Shadow, which I would love to read. I would suggest he should release them on a CD-ROM, but the same has often been suggested to me with reference to Ghosts & Scholars, and it would be much too much work!

The CD-ROM makes perfect sense, probably the way forward for the small presses, but while there is still an audience for physical books and zines I'd very happily settle for volumes 2 and 3 of Voices From Shadow.

I've just managed to order a copy of William Hope Hodgson: Voyages and Visions for a grand total of £2.50. The contents are: “A WHH Chronology” by Ian Bell “Introduction,” by Ian Bell “WHH and Blackburn,” by Ian Bell “WHH in Sandow’s Magazine,” by Richard Dalby “WHH and Borth,” by Mark Valentine “Child of All the Sea: The Sea-Horror Fiction,” by Peter Tremayne “Alone on a Wide Wide Sea: The Ghost Pirates,” by Michael Goss “Against the Abyss: Carnacki the Ghost-Finder,” by Mark Valentine “The Composition of The Night Land,” by Brian Stableford “The Restoration of The Night Land,” by Ian Bell “A Writer on the Borderland,” by Andy Sawyer “Tales of Remote Futures,” by Roger Dobson “WHH: In the Wake of Disaster,” introduced by Mike Ashley “WNH: Another Hodgson,” introduced by Ian Bell “Bibliography” by Ian Bell While I'm really only a fan of the Carnacki stories, some interesting writers have contributed to the booklet. The cover gives the wrong impression, I think.

Wow, James, those scans are ravishingly beautiful! Thank you for being so generous with those!
Postal rates between here and the UK seem really high now, which seems funny given the volume of daily traffic between London and Boston (which is where I live). I'm paying 20 pounds postage for a book I just ordered. It's a huge book but still...
I've never had the chance to see more than a very scant few British zines so I appreciate all the images and info that is being shared here.
cheers, H. (Steve)

Three weeks after it was posted and after at least one delivery to the wrong address, my copy of William Hope Hodgson: Voyages and Visions arrived last night. It is a mine of information and criticism. I mainly got it for Mark Valentine's article “Against the Abyss: Carnacki the Ghost-Finder”. The same article is also included in issue six of Exhibition Hall, an online Steampunk magazine (really!), pdfs of which can be accessed here: www.efanzines.com/ExhibHall/
