I thought so. Quite possibly the most deserving victim to feature on a creepy calendar since the odious former politician turned "outspoken" radio presenter in Gary Power's splenetic The Road To Hell. Particularly liked Mr. Strang's furious reaction to the unflattering promo poster. You might even say it reminded both the bride and me of an old big pal or two ....

Very enjoyable story by John Forth. I don't think I have read his work previously, but shall seek out more.

Day 15. Ten years on from penning a dramatic adaptation of Neville Kilvington's Creeps/ Pan Horror classic, Meshes of Doom, infamous Vault co-founder Franklin Marsh unveiled his slimline début collection, Auld Franklin's Almanak Of Doom in August 2015, and amidst threats of a sequel and even a Gregory Pendennis Black Sorcery Omnibus. Barely had lit. establishment reconciled itself to catastrophe than Hurricane Marsh struck again, this time with a mods versus rockers chiller in David & Linden Riley's astonishing Kitchen Sink Gothic. Appropriately enough, the following story, possibly inspired by A Christmas Carol, hails from way back in the mists of time - Vault MK I to be precise.

On published work alone you must have almost enough for a collection? I like the sound of Mary Kelly's Face! Due to the miracles of the time-lapse graphic, the illustration to Franklin's Bah Humbug is now even more disgusting than when first uploaded yesterday morning. You don't believe me? Try this.

Day 16Chrissie Demant Yet another Black Book/ VAC regular, British Fantasy veteran David A. Riley is the author of three novels - Moloch's Children, Goblin Mire, The Return - and three short story collections, The Lurkers In The Abyss, Their Cramped Dark World and His Own Mad Demons. An extremely productive 2015 for David and wife Linden's Parallel Universe imprint saw twelve books published in twelve months. including the genre-mangling Kitchen Sink Gothic, two volumes of 'Classic Weird', horror & supernatural collections by Kate Farrell, Charles Black, John Mains and David A. Riley himself, plus a long-awaited paperback release for Craig Herbertson's The Heaven Maker. The following, brand new story introduces a character I'm guessing many of us can identify with. The desert island zombie.

That tale by Franklin was wonderfully grim. The scene in the old people's home was truly horrible--well done, FM...bril.

Thanks to those of you who've kindly publicised VAC on their blogs, twitter & what have you, including the following very lovely item by Lady P, All I Want For Christmas Is Yuki, which I've just spent half an hour unsuccessfully attempting to post reply to.

Courtesy of some info I found on the "Roobarb's Forum" site, here's something for Vault members in the UK to listen to on Christmas Day itself, if they're still conscious: www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b06sqq9zIt appears that BBC Radio 4 is repeating a 1963 radio version of "Oh, Whistle, and I'll Come to You", starring Michael Horden. Here's a description of the original broadcast : genome.ch.bbc.co.uk/3327bbe368e24f6f8cb4c76170aef450It should also be available on the BBC iPlayer after broadcast. Mark

I've just watched the television version of this as well as the 2010 version starring John Hurt. Enjoyed them both immensely. Watched The Stalls of Barchester and A Warning to the Curious yesterday.

Day 17Chrissie Demant I love a Christmas mystery, me! First thought was to run the following - a supernatural horror thriller concerning the nasty goings on inside a malevolently haunted house - as a serial, but when your superb organisational skills are such that you wind-up with 28 stories to shoe-horn into 24 days, such a course would have complicated matters still further, so novella length it is! This is the very little I am at liberty to reveal about today's guest author, Mr. Drew Salzen. 1. He featured on last year's calendar with a self-contained extract from short novel, Fragmented Fears. 2. He's a long-time Vault loyalist whom several of us have met in person! 3. As you are soon to discover, he writes in various shades of nasty.
