The latest, unbelievably crass development. Selfies With Dead Women. Fourth Wave (London Feminist Activists) protest announced for Saturday morning, 11 am. Your roving-to-the-bottom-of-his-street reporter plans to be there. #stufftheripper #stoptheripperrotter #attentionseeker

I'm a bit confused. I thought that the museum already had reconstructions of the murder sites. Is it the case that previously the reconstructions did not feature dummies to represent the victims and for this special event they now will, and you can have your picture taken with them? Also, having a set representing JTR's sitting room makes the assumption that he did actually have a sitting room. I would have thought that like most of the area's inhabitants in 1888 JTR would more likely have a bed in a doss house or a single room in a house where many families lived--as at 29 Hanbury Street, where there was a family to each room.

Also, having a set representing JTR's sitting room makes the assumption that he did actually have a sitting room. That's nothing. According to the promo leaflet (see attached), they also display "a skull belonging to the killer." As to the dummies, they've been there since the glorified gift shop 'Museum' first opened its doors, just that now - exclusive Halloween bonus - you can have your photo taken next to the corpse of your choice, hence tomorrow's protest. The Ripper Rotter knows what he's doing. Inflammatory statements and tasteless promotions attract protesters. Protesters attract TV media crews on the off-chance the demo gets out of hand. It's all good free publicity for an otherwise insignificant tourist trap. Notoriety increases. Tomorrow morning's protest is a Halloween themed fancy-dress carnival. Attachments:

I hope they keep an eye on that skull...remember the trouble Peter Cushing et al had with the Marquis de Sade's noggin.

Is there any particular significance in the cat masks?

Is there any particular significance in the cat masks? Having mislaid my leaflets from the day, am not sure, but I think they are standard Fourth Wave FLA regalia. The masks contributed to a colourful protest. Also in evidence an assortment of vintage Suffragettes and match-girls hoisting a Ripper effigy. Had a chinwag with a v. pleasant vampire lady about forthcoming 'women's museum in the street' protest which should be a stormer. Both reluctantly agreed that it will likely be economics that do for the glorified gift shop (as "London's hottest tourist attraction"s go, it doesn't seem to be attracting many). In the two hours I was there, three couples braved the abuse and hearty cries of "shame on you!" to take up the selfie offer, so business not great. Ripper Rotter briefly poked his hipster beard out door, wisely decided that, on this occasion, discretion was the better part of valour, swiftly withdrew it. Policing good natured but, again, why so many (unless Museum footing the bill)? A cameo from the Women's Death Brigade briefly had the reporters' hearts all a flutter, but mindful it wasn't their protest, they said their bit and otherwise offered support to the organisers. It was all very dignified. Coincidentally, the new issue of The Ripperologist was issued same morning, but that will have to wait until I'm done with Pulp Horror #1 and Sleazy Reader #3.

In the wake of the infamous 'Serial Killers' protest, things seemed to go quite on the "Museum" front, in that, following the arrests of two prominent Class War members for 'criminal damage' versus the Aldgate One complex (i.e., the place with separate entrances for affluent owners and "poorer" tenants), the media lost interest. So what's been happening? Read Trevor Bond and Jon Rees excellent 28 page " ...update" in Ripperologist issue 148: February 2016 to find out. Includes interviews with Becky Warnock ('Celebrate Suffragettes not serial killers'), Joshua Walker, (Museum PR man), and pantomime villain of the piece, the ever-charming Mark Palmer-Edgecumbe. As usual with The Ripperologist, this is an extremely well-written and well-balanced piece of coverage - a zillion times better than you'll find in the mainstream media. Recommended.

Would have liked for Messrs Bond & Rees to spend more time on the 'Serial Killer' protest, specifically the "they threatened to burn the place down" allegation. And I am not so sure Mr. Palmer-Edgecumbe is shy of giving interviews, though it might be better if he were. The Debrief. This is not the first time he has compared his plight to that of the Jews in Nazi Germany; he did the same on 'London live'. The Ripperologist site has been 'under construction' for a very long time, but those interested can join the mailing list via the home/ only page. Ripperologist

A development. I thought obtaining retrospective planning permission would be a formality, so happy to be proved wrong. Commendably, The Women's Death Brigade & friends have volunteered to remove shutters and shop front if the Ripper Rotter has not managed to comply with the Council's instructions by 3pm on Sunday June 19th. 'Jack the Ripper Museum’ Appeal Dismissed#StuffTheRipper #BollocksToTheRipperRotter #GlorifiedGiftShop etc.

I think so! Mr. Palmer-Edgecumbe must have incredibly deep pockets. I pass "London's hottest tourist attraction" at least twice a day, various times, and nary a soul to be seen. Demonstrators and the odd stray Ripper obsessive apart, few seem the least interested in the 'Museum'. Having said that, there will surely be a significant presence outside on the 19th should sign and shutter - must admit, I can't believe they've been told to remove that - still be in place. Will keep you posted.
