Now, I guess you can see where I'm coming from here, by the title. Or maybe I'm going mad - but I am sure, that long ago, I read one of his anthologies, possibly 'Tales Of The Unexpected', and, at the back, was a totally fascinating account of the accidental discovery, by a ploughman, in 1939, of the large, and beautiful 'Mildenhall Treasure' hoard. Or have I completely lost the plot? I have not managed to find it in any book since. Does any one else remember reading it? Ever? Maybe it wasn't Dahl that wrote it, but I'm damn sure it was. Help! [and I would love to read it again]. Cheers.

Not sure it was ever included in any Tales Of The Unexpected selections, but it certainly exists. Details on the Roald Dahl site: The Mildenhall Treasure

Thank you very much for that. I shall definitely be getting a copy. I don't live that far from Mildenhall, and my local museum [Ipswich], has replicas of the treasure. I have seen the real hoard in the British Museum, and it is literally breathtakingly beautiful. Astonishing craftsmanship.
