Very sad news. He was a giant of British TV in the 60s and 70s, and his film work was also high quality and very watchable. A sad day to have lost such a wonderfully talented man. RIP Brian.

RIP Mr Clemens. Most people would be contented with having created The Avengers, but he had to go and dream up The Professionals, too - both big parts of my growing up. The New Avengers first series was good, it was only the demands of the Canadian backers for season two that messed with it. There's the Hammer films of course, then Thriller, and I had a soft spot for Bugs (early nineties but only two short series), which was Clemens and Stephen Gallagher. Not to mention his freelancing on ITC shows and his early work for the Danzingers on the likes of The Man From Interpol and the various Sabre series. Saw a load of those on Bravo years back and they showed what he could do on a budget of tuppence h'apenny and a bit of string rescued from around a parcel. Most thriller and adventure shows since the sixties owe him a debt. A big one.

Well said, Pulphack. I used to really like Thriller, particularly the supernaturally-tinged ones. Agreed about New Avengers regarding series 1 and 2. I don't think I have seen much of his stuff from the early 60s, but I really should check it out.

Very Sad news indeed. The man was responsible for directing one of my all time favourite, and best Hammer film Captain Kronos Vampire Hunter.

Sad news indeed. I'm not too familiar with his TV work, other than a few rare Avengers re-runs when I was younger but I have a great soft spot for the aforementioned Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter, and the Mia Farrow suspenser Blind Terror/See No Evil (1971)
