Weird. I think this is the last Herbert I truly and unreservedly enjoyed. James Herbert - Besessan (Wilhelm Heyne, 1993) Someone donated this to Little Free Library overnight.

Yeah, for a time Herbert was successful in terms of sold books. This was published in a mainstream line like King and Straub. The lifeless cover is a good hint. Not too "horror". He later changed publishers, but was already on the decline. His last four novels were not translated.
