Splendid! Will it acknowledge Lovecraft's contribution (if as I assume it won't just include voodoo stories)? Hi Ramsey. Last i heard, it's going to be as near to a complete collection of Whitehead's horror & supernatural work as they can manage. i'm not sure about any Lovecraft contribution other than his helping hand in setting The Trap? Here's a reminder of Wordsworth's mystery & supernatural line-up for 2012 - Aleister Crowley - The Simon Iff Stories & Other Works (March: out now!)
- Edgar Wallace - The Complete Four Just Men (May)
- E. F. Benson - Night Terrors: The Ghost Stories Of. (June)
- Maurice LeBlanc - An Arsene Lupin Omnibus (July)
- Henry S. Whitehead - Voodoo Tales: The Ghost Stories Of. (August)

Last i heard, it's going to be as near to a complete collection of Whitehead's horror & supernatural work as they can manage. i'm not sure about any Lovecraft contribution other than his helping hand in setting The Trap? According to S T Joshi, The Trap is the only HSW story Lovecraft revised. It has been suggested that Lovecraft might also have worked on Bothon, but Joshi is convinced that Lovecraft did no more than supply the basic idea for the story. (I read somewhere than Lovecraft also supplied HSW with the idea for the excellent Cassius... I don't know how many HSW stories come into the same category.) All of that said, S T Joshi arguing something doesn't necessarily make it right. I am not convinced that he is correct in believing that HPL didn't revise Sonia Greene's Four O'Clock, but this probably isn't the place to discuss that. I own copies of Jumbee (in the Neville Spearman edition) and West India Lights (Arkham House) so I doubt whether the Wordsworth collection will have much (if any) extra to offer me. Jumbee is quite a hefty book (394 pages) and West India Lights is not much smaller (367 pages). I make that 761 pages in all. Of course, Wordsworth may be about to make a really beefy HSW collection, but I'm pretty sure that none of the Wordsworth collections in my possession are anything like as big as that.

Wordsworth Varney The Vampyre runs to 1166 pages so it's not beyond them. From my understanding, the intention is to include the entire contents of West India Lights and Jumbee, plus as many as the team could track down from our additional listing which, i gather, has been quite a few. But we'd all be better to wait for official confirmation.

Lovecraft wrote to Duane Rimel (12 September 1934) that it was originally to be a collaboration but eventually he gave Whitehead the story idea to develop by himself.

Shouldn't this be out now?? I'm so looking forward to it! I am, too. The publication date was August 10 according to the Wordsworth site, but I'm not sure whether it's actually out yet or not. Apparently it's 704 pages long, which is great. I still haven't seen a table of contents anywhere and would love to see it.

Just found out about this volume. amazon.co.uk seems to have it as temporarily unavailable, but I've ordered it anyway. A facebook friend in the US was having trouble getting a copy (which is what brought it to my attention). I'm wondering if there hasn't been some delay, or other reason behind this temporary unavailability, as I can't seem to find any copies elsewhere either?
I see from comments that hadn't been visible to me before I signed up that it's probably been delayed.

This just in from Derek, who sends his best.
"The Whitehead stock came in last week, so will be available for order now."
will try make it to super-sleazy Lovejoys later in week, see if they've any in yet as they're usually hot off the mark.
