After much thought on the subject (none really), I now believe Shannon Entropy to be one of those "Hip-Hop" limerick acts popular in working class areas of certain cities, such as Bath or Royal Tunbridge Wells. Here is an example of "Hip Hop" for those unfamiliar with popular music acts: There was a Young Lady of Dorking, Who bought a large bonnet for walking; But its colour and size, So bedazzled her eyes, That she very soon went back to Dorking. I hope this helps.

I'm very skeptical myself when it comes to photos of this type (cryptids & other strange creatures, 99.9% of ghost photos since the advent of cell phones). Too bad this one has proved to be fake.... You and I seem to be the only ones here who thought this was a very promising depiction of the Little People. I wonder how everyone else here envisions them??? Perhaps like a pixie, with green vest, pointed curled shoes, and tiny bells jingling? Please share your thoughts.

Having looked at it again, I take back any indication that I thought it might have been real. It looks too good a photo capture to be true.

I agree that the photo may be unrealistically good. But aside from that, the anatomy, squatting posture, and cold blue griminess, convinces me.

Jack Vance the SF/fantasy author uses little people and creatures quite a lot in his tales. In one of the Cugel saga there's a good section with tiny ratlike cannibals. Forget which bit though. "The Cave in the Forest," perhaps?

After I read Helrunar's post, I immediately thought of Richard Dad & looked for his paintings. However I discovered I didn't like them quite enough to say anything about them here.
Wirt Sikes' "British Goblins" illustrations are fun. I don't know why I'm posting this one, it shows me right before they led me into the swamp. I tried to beat them away with my hat, but it was no use. To save myself embarrassment, I've gone by one or two noms-de-plume since then.

I'm not familiar with Wirt Sikes--nice drawing. The style made me think of Robin Jacques so I went to look at some of his beautiful illustrations. Themselves do feature from time to time. Jacques' sense of whimsy does appeal to me, which isn't the case with some of the better known artists such as Rackham and Froud.
