Picked this up today at the Oxfam on Archway Road. Looks like a nasty... . "she could never forget the torture chambers .... the atrocities committed upon her young body ....." Yep, I'm inclined to agree with you.

It's decent enough, but it's not quite as nasty as it could be, still seems a bit polite, if you know what I mean. The author's official site is here: www.joyfielding.com/Seems she went onto 'safer' material & seems to have left Trance off her official backlist Her fantastic fiction listing is here: www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/f/joy-fielding/

The prologue is pretty twisted. The Chilean secret police stuff the mouse featured on the front cover into the one place I imagine a lady would dread most.
Later in the book, there's also the appearance of a horny Alsatian that the Chilean secret police eagerly introduce to one of their female victims. Given the fact the old sniffer is so fond of American girls, he's named "Uncle Sam" by them.
Or is it all the consequence of false-memory syndrome administered during hypnotic trance? What foul conspiracy is afoot?
Joy Fielding: candidate for a Johnny Mains interview, I think!

Joy Fielding: candidate for a Johnny Mains interview, I think! Mark S. Have been thinking about it. Should I fire off an email and see if she's up for it?

Go for it Johnny, would be great to know her thoughts on Trance now & I always enjoy reading your interviews. Mark, how could I forget the mouse? don't know how that one slipped my mind. I blame too many Hutsons in a row, I think I've got used to graphic now (I did read Trance before I really got started on Hutson, but I think my nastiness memory is clouded ;D )
