Crikey has it really been 5 months? Good grief. Anyway if anyone remembers me I wanted to drop in after a long absence to say hello to all the fine people at Vault. Last time I was on here I was wailing about being made redundant (early October last year) Since then I have done all kinds of weird temp jobs, worked on the checkout at Tesco (which I enjoyed so much I am still doing on Saturdays!) but now have a great job with the local Council working for families and kids in the community - completely different to what I used to do, but much more rewarding - only trouble is they actually make me work for a living so not much chance of running an all day thread on Bram Stoker's 'The Judges House' or 'Which is the best story in 'Asylum' ' like I used to!
Anyhow I hope that I will get to join in the fun and the chats a little more now, but perhaps not as regularly as before.
That's decided it - I'm going to start a thread on 'The Judge's House' - will it be very cheeky of me to start the thread in the Pan section? Hmmmmmmmmm - ok then.
Love to all
Colin ('Luke')

Congratulations on getting a new job, Colin.
I've been through the redundancy thing myself (in the mid-nineties) and it's no fun.
Look forward to seeing more of you here!

Glad to hear it worked out Colin.
I'm more or less going through the stress of losing my already badly paid job as a roving musician. It was never well paid in the past but now - well all I can say is that I'm considering clown as the next job. I've heard its badly played, involves being drunk permanently but at least it gets laughs

Sorry to hear that, Craig. Being in that position where you speak the local tongue is bad enough. It must be far worse living in Germany, which I don't think is exactly one of the cheaper European countries to live in.

Hit the nail on the head David. Not being able to even do small talk is a killer when it goes pear shaped. I've been down to the local job place. Nice guy but he just shrugged his shoulders about work - its just not possible without a fairly good command of the language and you can't even sit on a park bench and say 'life's up the creek' to the old geezer on the park bench - that's when it gets tough.
One positive thing is that I've started working again like mad at trying to get work on the phone rather than pretending to work on the internet.
Probably it will all blow over. It always was a seasonal job.

Great to hear from you, Colin and well done to you for turning things around so quickly. It sure doesn't seem like five months to me, either. Let me think. October. Nah, nothing much has happened here since then *cough*
Anyway, very pleased to have you back. You were on a roll before the storm broke and i've been hoping for more of your 'Pan Portmanteau - Pick and Cast' recommendations!
Hope things pick up for you too, Craig.

Thanks Dem - well now there's a good idea (Pan Portmanteau) - if I cant find the old thread I'll start off a new one.
Thank you all for your kind wishes too. Craig, I can only wish you the best and say don't lose heart. It is very in keeping with this site and my love of Pan Horror that I ended up with (ahem) 'An Opportunity In Local Government' - as for this time next year - who knows?
The clown idea is not a bad one actually......... Tim Curry? Pah! Brian Dennehy in the J Wayne Gacy made for TV Movie was far scarier.....!
