Kind-hearted West Indian boy tries desperately to fit in with a group of 1972 football hooligans who repay his friendliness with betrayal. If you've ever wanted to kill a referee because he awarded a penalty against your team; this is the book for you. Mark S.

Say what you like about the seventies, but the publishers had their collective fingers on the pulse. "Criminally readable"? That cover is probably criminally indictable. Another absolutely brilliant find, Mark!

Anyone recall what this was? Pictures seem quite long perished and not getting any telltale clues.

Can't remember author, but the staged cover photo depicted a (red? platform?) boot making contact with some poor sod's head as he lay on the ground. We all got very excited about it at the time.

I'm at work, so naturally I'll do some scouring on the internet, because that's what work is for, right? The old link just shows that the two files were called "Penalty". My initial cursory search just shows up with this, which includes a bloody football and was written in 1972, but it doesn't seem like it's the right thing.
