I must admit I was really surprised by this when I saw on the BFS forum that there was a move by Robinson to ditch this series. And I thought horror anthologies were coming back into fashion again at long last ...

Well, I know Steve Jones' Mammoth Best New Horror isn't the favourite of some of you here - but I'm sure there are others who like it ... .... which reminded me: hadn't given the new one a thread to itself yet. Then I saw your amended post ... I don't it's so much a case of it 'not being a favourite' with some of us, more that there's very little choice when it comes to the mainstream Brit horror anthology - there's the yearly Mammoth's and that's it. Being a bunch of miserable gits, we're always gonna moan about it being better in our day which, by the way, it was. Some of Jones' selections have bamboozled me, others are very enjoyable and his Summer Chills collection from last year is absolutely super! The Mammoth series are as good value in their way as the Wordsworth's! Also their staff are nice to me (which, I don't need to tell you, is the most important thing). Even if i've only got around to one story from #19 so far, at £4.50 it's a steal.

Oh sorry, I didn't realise it already had a thread here - I was adding the info about the cheap copies here as it kind of follows on from what Martin was saying above. As you say, there aren't many horror anthologies around, so if this one gets ditched by Robinson - as seems to be the intention - then it'll be a disaster, in my opinion.
