Prior to everything going tits up, I was working on a New English Library arm of the Vault site at vaultofevil.wordpress.com/This time - provided nobody has any objections? - I'll been lifting reviews from here by various hands to give it more of a real Vault feel. I know Justin has something similar in the offing, via either Pulpmania or Paperback Fanatic, so I'll keep the NEL section locked until his article is published. The various Wordpress sections are going quite well all things considered and some have attracted comments from people who don't post on Vault which is kind of odd!

Yes, quite a few of his novels of which my favourite was Roofworld (currently being filmed) but I had a good time with Psychoville, Spanky, Soho Black, Disturbia and Darkest Day. This was prior to the board and, unfortunately, he's never really been covered on here in any great depth. Roofworld has two rival communities living in secrecy on the roofs of London's tower blocks and skyscrapers, swinging from one to the other by means of reenforced ropes. I really must get around to a re-read sharpish! Here's his site: www.christopherfowler.co.uk/

Christopher Fowler's story The Master Builder was used in I Shudder At Your Touch and I believe it was filmed. I'll transfer that one soon. Way back, I read Roofworld and recently found a copy of his Seventy-Seven Clocks.

i've seen posters for a film called Disturbia recently - is this his book?
i'd recommend chris fowler whole-heartedly. Psychoville has the best first half of any psychologically-based book i've ever read - a rollercoaster of bizarre terror. the second half lost it a bit for me, but that may be because i didn't like one of the big revelations (even though re-reading it it made more sense than what i would have liked).
also read three of the Bryant & May mysteries - Full Dark House, Seventy Seven Clocks, and Ten Second Staircase. all three are full of baroque mystery, great character writing and humour, and some really creepy moments to mix with the fortean themes.

i've seen posters for a film called Disturbia recently - is this his book? I took it for granted that it must be, but that doesn't seem to be the case at all. He's not credited on the official site and makes no mention of it on his own. Managed to dig up a copy of Full Dark House recently.

thanks, Dem - and there was me thinking mr Fowler had REALLY gone ovberground. though the Bryant & May books have won crime awards, i believe, which makes him cross-genre!
full dark house - i think you'll love it when you get to it.
