Good to have you back, dem!
Hope the router does his thing. Idiotic that this whole technology is dependent on one device. Two weeks for a replacement? Hi Andy. To be fair, it took two working days for new router to arrive. It was diagnosing that old router was to blame took a week. Now I've sobered up, I realise there's been no "backtracking" on Ph*t*bucket's part. As Sev correctly identifies, it's only the Plus account subscribers have the reprieve - my account was a freebie. That will be another decade's worth of effort down the drain then. Over on Wordpress, Vault excuse for a 'site' likewise hideously disfigured. Night all. This sucks. What a damn shame. I think this loss of things on the internet is going to be a continual situation. We come to depend on it but in the end it's a lot of stuff in the ether. Maybe bookshops will come back and collections and meeting people to look at them in the real world. Still sucks though. I really feel for you Dem and wish there was an alternative.

The great rebuild continues apace, not as though it will be immediately apparent. Of an estimated 9000+ Vault images affected by Denver's #1 extortion racket, have now re-hosted 350 elsewhere.
To best of my knowledge, all the images I ever posted are backed up, albeit scattered across several discs and flash pens. The "easiest" to restore are the most recent (still on my hard-drive), but ph*t*b*cket having set a precedent, who is to say the other hosting sites won't follow suit? Some of us still remember how or*nge murdered our sites with zero warning (and charged us for the privilege). We can only give it a go.
Obviously, it will take some time to restore Vault to full "glory" (translation: just talk among yourselves for the next 13 years).

Thanks, Dem. I'm hearing that old Sixties anthem "The War Drags On" ...
cheers, H.

Operation restoration continued. Vault versus Denver's finest Part zzzz. Etc. The trick is not to close your ph*t*buk*t account just yet. Doing so means that this [Fig A] will appear on the board where your cover scan once was - arguably an even more grotesque image than the beloved 'Please update account to enable 3rd party hosting 'abomination. Fig A While you leave said account(s) open, at least you can download your pictures, albeit individually (had zero joy with the 'download album' option.) Anyhow, am still determined to get us back to our original beautiful self and tons and tons of pics have now been rehosted. Thank you again for your patience, support and encouragement. It's OUR board, simple as. Worth fighting for. Huge gratitude to friend Severance for rebuilding the sumptuous Down The Back Of The Vault thread, and a big ta to the Denver racket for their services to arts, culture and fun. Love you forever. Sev rather more than that fucken mob, obviously.

9000 images? I thought going through my 200+ was a pain, so I can't imagine what 9000 must be like! Thankfully 95% of my stuff was already on Ipernity, just wasn't aware that I could've been using that all along instead of bunging them on ph....ucket as well. Never mind, live and learn.

Hats off to you for your determination. You're the man Dem. I've been hiding for a bit due to the country move but every time I come on here I get that old buzz. Hope the photo thing doesn't diminish your efforts.

Best of luck with that!

"To re-establish trust among its long-standing and new customers ..." Best of luck with that! Quite. How can you re-establish trust with new customers...?
