Three new ones listed on the Wordsworth site:
The Haunter of the Dark: Collected Short Stories Volume 3 by H. P. Lovecraft. Stories listed as being in this collection are 'Herbert West - Re-animator', 'Pickman's Model', and 'The Shunned House'. This one is stated to be released in June 2011.
The Italian by Anne Radcliffe. Slated to be released in January 2011.
Irish Ghost Stories selected by Rosemary Gray. This is probably a pared down version of the larger special edition. Slated for a May 2011 publication date.

Some of the cover I hadn't seen before are superb (yes take a bow Northcote & nesbit). when you see the series all laid out like this I think it is obvious waht a remarkable publishing achievement this series has been. Has anything in recent memory come close to reprinting such a range of classic, often obscure and hard to find, genre fiction at such an affordable price?- Chris

The Wordsworth Book of Horror Stories - 2004 Found this on German Ebay for a quid. Nice volume. Thankfully dem already listed the content a bit earlier on page 2. As I don´t know how to do a link in thread, you have to page back.

As I don´t know how to do a link in thread, you have to page back. A fine book, make no mistake. I bought it new and I'm fairly sure I didn't pay more than a fiver. Similarly with the Irish Ghost story collection, Victorian collection, and the Gripping Tales collection. All fine volumes for a pittance. Wordsworth are, by far and away, my favourite publisher.

Horrified to find that I am missing seven books from their list. Just as horrified to find that so many are missing from their list that once used to grace it. I recified the first part with an order with Amazon that cost me less than 20 beans.
But why the deletions?

I recified the first part with an order with Amazon that cost me less than 20 beans. But why the deletions? i think it took ages to sell the print run of some of the early ones so derek & co didn't think a second printing was viable. wheatley's novels are no longer public domain, and there was some controversy over the credit for The Loved Dead which saw the book withdrawn. there's more info about this on the Horror In The Museum thread. incidentally, a heartfelt 'screw you' to Foyles, at least one branch of Waterstones and any other high street big player who mark the mystery & supernatural books up at OUP/ penguin classic prices and think we won't notice. i would rather read the complete works of Anne Rice than patronise your rip off emporiums while this practice continues, you blooming grasping blighters!

Long live Wordsworth publishing.

Long live Wordsworth publishing. it's the principle of the thing, ain't it? we've a local independent, East Side Books, strong on local history titles, not exactly known for its bargain bin, but they mark up the Wordsworths at the RRP and that will do me. i'm sure none of us would begrudge paying a few quid on top if the money went into Wordsworth's pockets and helped keep them going, but, with a sizable proportion of the country skint or getting there, for the big chains to take advantage of an imprint who are doing more than most to get people reading by keeping their books afordable - it's pretty lousy.

Well, at least you don't get hit with the cost of importing...
Seriously, I used to pick these up for cover price at Half-Price Books over here but they haven't stocked anything since The Italian came out. So, sadly, looks like alot of air mail in my future.

Very fruitful visit to the local Poundland shop today, as there was a stack of Wordsworth Mystery & Supernatural books. A few I already had, but I picked up Wagner the Werewolf, Dr Nikola Master Criminal, The Black Veil, Sherlock Holmes and the Hentzau Affair, The Crimson Blind, and Uncanny Stories by May Sinclair. A nice little selection to add to the to-be-read pile.

Dr Nikola Master Criminal These are still really readable - you can see why they were bestsellers at the time.
