I'm so used to the photo they eventually ran with that it's impossible to imagine the cover any other way but i'm with X on this - the fourth one down is terrific. Here's a question you might like to ask her, Johnny. The helpless victim about to be crushed to death under a big snail on the cover of #6 . Who was he and, assuming he managed to survive the ordeal, what's he up to now?

On the man under the snail - unfortunately he was just a model they hired in for the day, and Mary can't remember who he was or where he came from.

For us folks late to the party. Could the interview link and pix be re-posted. The current links no longer work.
Thanks Ian

No, sorry, it's now a dead website. Unless it's been archived, and can be found - but I don't have time at the moment to go looking for it or through about 8 hard drives for some photos.
Cheers Johnny

Thanks Johnny.
I can sympathise - I have seen websites disappear with some of my content in the past too.
Reading between the lines of the various posts in the thread, they suggest it was Mary beaked-up on the cover of Volume 5.
Was that really the case?

Great find, James! The Norman J. Warren interview seems interesting. I thought Satan's Slave was a wasted opportunity... thanks to Michael Gough and the lovely house used for the film, there were some good moments nevertheless.
Glad I clicked on this thread because I found "man about to be crushed by a snail" highly entertaining. I could have fun composing various perverted captions for that photograph.
cheers, H.

Helrunar, it was my old website - very happy James has found it. Wow, it seems like a lifetime ago.

Why a wasted opportunity? Of course a lot of things could have been better in Satan's Slave with more money and better actors. but I have a soft spot for the movie. The ending could have been clearer told and one could endlessly debate how good the beginning and the murder of the fiance (?) went smoothly with the rest. But on the whole this is a lot of fun. And I liked the free spirit of the time. One of the reasons why I just can't The Devil Rides Out from Hammer seriously is the "orgy" scene where everybody wears more clothes than at the beach. It always takes me out of the story with its laughable prudishness, regardless what a marvelous de Richelieu Chris Lee was. The Golden Age of Brit independent filmmaking handled this much better.

I need a young male photographic model who can look like he’s being eaten by a snail…”
