Great to see some new activity here Sev, and I'm sure you'll have a good time with Knox! The Weird Menace (Jewel Of Opar, 1972) Neal MacDonald, jnr. Bob Jones - Popular's Weird Menace Pulps (Essay & Index)
John H. Knox - Man Out Of Hell ( Dime Mystery, March 1934) Bill Zeigler was a brave man. But it takes more than courage to battle such a being as tracked him during those dark hours when each new dawn brought its own fresh horror of burning flesh and disappearing men!John H. Knox - Frozen Energy ( Dime Mystery, March 1934) If he could move an arm - an eyelid - he could let them know in time! But the evil potion of frozen life had done its ghastly work too well! It's been too long since I read these but the lengthy Man Out Of Hell is shudder pulp platinum, up there with even the mighty The Mole Men Want Your Eyes, Labyrinth Of Monsters and Revelry In Hell. There is a scene toward the climax where the aforementioned Bill Zeigler locates the hoods' secret lair and conceals himself in a steel coffin. Bad move; the robot-monster makers fire up the furnace ..... The booklet was issued to commemorate Pulpcon #1 in June 1972 - a bloody strange choice but a welcome one!

Ah, what I would give to have that volume... *sighs*.
Knox is one of the very best of the "weird menace" authors. The Colonel Crum tales are a bit more sedate than his usual work, but still fun. For lovers of Knox at his best, Midnight House is working on what will probably be a two volume set collecting his best work from Dime Mystery, Thrilling Mystery, Horror Stories, and Terror Tales.
Cheers,
John
