Ralph Comer - The Mirror Of Dionysos (Tandem, 1969: USA as To Dream Of Evil, Award, 1969) Blurb: The flicker of moonlight in the mirror was hypnotic, and a sudden wave of nausea swept over him. The mirror changed to a kaleidoscope of whirling colours, swelled to a vortex into which he felt himself failing .....
He stood on the sand, and a faint moon lit the arena with a gloomy radiance. The beginnings of fear caressed the nape of his neck as he recognised the cause of the elongated shadow in the middle distance. With an infinitely painful and shuffling gait, the shadow — man or animal, he could not tell — ambled across the sand towards him. Every fibre of his body, every nerve and sinew, willed themselves to flee from the stumbling horror, which, as it closed on him, raised its mutilated head and called out a travesty of his name.Been after this since reading Curt's review on Groovy Age of Horror - "Not only would I recommend this, I'm very sorry Comer never published any further adventures of Lawson and Cullender. A Swinging London photographer and his scholarly sidekick vs. the occult--if that ain't a formula for awesome groovy horror, I don't know what is!!" - and eventually located a copy in the world's least secret SECRET ROOM at Type where it was sat between a pair of Donald A Wollheim's Digit anthologies. What a shop! should be making a start on Mirror .... this week once I've torn my eyes from the psychedelic cover, but in the meantime, recently received an inquiry from a Dani García on Wordpress. May I ask you any data of Ralph Comer. I am writing about British Literature of Horror, mainly of Wheatley. But I need the year of birth of Mr. Comer and I cannot find it.can anybody help?

This and The Witchfinders are both good books - favourites of mine in fact.

I know Ralph Comer very well, though it is only a pen name. Before I pass on any details to the person asking for date of birth etc. I will speak to him to get his approval.

This sounds a lot like the 1969 TV movie with Louis Jourdan, Fear no evil. Presumably a coincidence since there have been a number of stories about mirrors haunted by evil spirits or demonic forces.
Must try to find out more about this one.
